The trocar tip is used to penetrate the tissue
layers of the peritoneum. Once the EASYPORT
trocar has been positioned as a guide in the
peritoneum, the trocar tip is removed from the
trokar sheath and the channel is open for the
optic or laparoscopic instruments to be intro
duced into the inflated abdominal cavity.
The
safety trocar
operates with the same
mechanism as a Veres cannula. The blunt
mandrel is pushed back by the counter pressure
of the tissue during penetration and reveals
the sharp hollow needle. After penetration, the
mandrel slides forward again, and prevents
thus injury to the organs. It is therefore espe-
cially suited for the positioning of the first trocar.
